When we started PBF back in June 2007, we had no way of knowing the Global Financial Crisis was about to hit. That proved a tough start for PBF but 10 years later and we’re going stronger than ever.

Owner Arjen Bloem had worked in the trade for many years, both for himself and for building companies, when he saw an opportunity to bring a much higher degree of professionalism to the industry.

In the early days, as we endured the GFC, we completed many small jobs for builders and insurance work.

Initially we did a BNZ Head office building project followed by the Deliottes building New Zealands first 5 green star project. We stuck at it and by early 2010 had built a solid beginnings of team made up of Daniel, Bryan and Ruel.

We released where we added most value and we have since focused on those area.

Things have sky-rocketed since then: turnover has grown 20-36% every year and now have a team of 45 committed men and women.

“I’ve really enjoyed the growing process,” says Arjen. “It’s been both hugely fulfilling and challenging, but our biggest breakthroughs have come during the tough times.

“Through it all, we’ve strived to deliver the best painting service in Auckland, and we’ve been fortunate to work for so many amazing clients,” he says.

“Highlights include completing some very challenging projects, and the referrals we’ve received from our clients. For us, client referrals are the ultimate compliment because we know our clients don’t do this lightly.

“Other highlights have been receiving a number of industry awards and working with an amazing team.”
